WHILE YOU SLEPT

While you slept
There was a scuffle
Noises
A scream
A burglar caught in the act?
An abuse?
Domestic feud?
Perhaps yes
Perhaps not

While you slept
There was a coup coup d'etat
Blood was shed
Civil war broke out
A revolution?
Dictator is born?
Puppet regime?
Perhaps yes
Perhaps not

While you slept
A dying soul stretched
An empty bowl
For food
Perhaps they will see
Another dawn
Perhaps they will be
A history tomorrow

While you slept
A petal blossomed
To a flower
A bride groomed
To a wife
A boy became
A man
A pride was broken
She was now
A woman

While you slept
There was a smile
On your face
Your body moved
You clasped your hands
Your lips twitched
May be you wanted to say it
Perhaps yes
Perhaps not

While you slept
A drop from the sky
Watered a seed
Perhaps it shall grow to a tree
And give us
Fruits
Shade
Firewood
Or a furniture
Perhaps that drop too
Shall water
Your emotions
That some day
May grow up
To a romantic tree
In your heart.
